AGS Principal attends School Expo in Lucknow

On 10-11 February AGS Principal, Mr McDaniel, attended an Indian School's Expo held in Lucknow and talked with parents that were interested in having their students begin to study at AGS in July. The response was good, perhaps because Lucknow doesn't have any IGCSE or IB schools.

Socks for little cold feet
On a fine winter morning of 23 December 2011 the CAS DEPARTMENT of Amity Global School donated socks to underprivileged students of Maharishi Dayanand School, South city-I in Gurgaon. The donation of socks was done by Mr. Lon Mc Daniel, the Principal of Amity Global School along with Ms.Sonia Kochhar, CAS Coordinator at AGS-Gurgaon, to the underprivileged students. About 145 students were given socks bought with the funds (amounting to Rs.2500) generated by the IB-CAS Department of Amity Global School in Gurgaon.
The efforts of our IB-CAS Department were praised by students and staff at the venue. On this occasion the underprivileged students of Maharishi Dayanand School sang songs representing moral values and recited the Dohas given by the famous poet Kabir in a well presented manner. The efforts of students, teachers and representatives of Maharishi Dayanand School was appreciated and praised by Mr. Lon McDaniel and Ms. Sonia Kochhar.

CAS students in action

AGS CAS students are teaching underprivileged students of the Maharishi Dayanand Model School, South city-I:
Our IB students participate in CAS activities such as these in order to become more aware of the world in which they live, to make them better citizens of our complex and rapidly changing world.
Knowledge without empathy is a dangerous thing.
We want our students to know what is happening in the world around them, but we also want them to care about what is happening, and contribute to constructive solutions to the problems that we face in India and in the world.

Science Colloquium at AGS in Noida

AGS in Noida held their Science Colloquium 2011 on 30 November.
There were 11 schools participating in the event with two teams from each school.
1st place went to the team from AIS-Vasundhra, 2nd place to AIS-Mayur Vihar and 3rd place to the team from Lancers International School.

Amity International Model United Nations Conference (AIMUN)

Amity International Model United Nations Conference (AIMUN) was launched last year by the Amity Educational Resource Centre. It was hosted this year (17-19 November) by Amity University, Noida.
AIMUN 2011 simulated 8 committees with over 510 high school students from 64 schools all over the world. Students from 53 schools across India from Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh and 13 schools worldwide from Germany, Denmark, Hungary, China, Mauritius ,Maldives, Pakistan & Kazakhstan participated as delegates making it the biggest MUN event in India. A team of 30 student journalists was part of the Global Press covering the event and they published a newsletter daily and also a special school newspaper edition on AIMUN 2011.
Amity Global School was proud to be a part of this years AIMUN and looks forward to participating again next year.
